Rural Chiapas – A Photo Tour

written by Beth April 8, 2013

Because it always takes me a day or two to get my head on straight following a trip (especially one as love, joy and amoeba-filled as the one we just returned from), I’m going to start off with a few photos I took through the bus window on the way there and save the San Cristóbal stories for (tomorrow?) when I’ve had a bit more sleep and everyone’s well. (My fevery Estella has managed to extend her spring break to nearly three weeks, poor thing — thank goodness for old school Sesame Street on Youtube.)

I am pleased to announce that the bus ride took only 17 hours this time, that it was the easiest overnighter we’ve ever taken, and that the only incidence of vomit occurred without my knowing, if you can believe it. (How’s that for a parenting milestone!?)

Considering that they were all taken from a moving vehicle behind a tinted-glass window, I’m pretty excited about the photo quality (loving my new camera). My favorite in the bunch is a bit blurred but I threw it in anyway because it’s so very telling.

Oh, Mexico. These make me miss it. We haven’t been since last year. I’m glad you had a good trip and that it was relatively vomit-free! 🙂

Where, Chiapas? I know, I felt it, too.

So life. So real. So beautiful. Gotta love Mexico! :o)
Your favorite one brought the tears to my eyes. The details… telling indeed.

Hi Beth! New the site and love this post — I am in the Puerto Vallarta area, but the Chiapas region is on my list to head that way in the next few months. Wes (Johnny Vagabond) sent me this way and he was right, lovely site 🙂 Looking forward to reading more!

I really enjoyed the Chiapas photos I go there often and lived in San Cristobal for about 5 months last year. I always plan to sleep on the long bus trip but get so caught up in the scenery that I get little sleep.
